Artemis Systems is building a surgery-free, closed-loop neurotechnology — non-invasive sensing paired with targeted delivery through the body's natural pathways, under machine-learning control.

What we're building

Sleep architecture is one of the few direct expressions of brain state that can be measured and modified at home, without clinical infrastructure or surgery. Artemis closes the loop between real-time brain state and therapeutic action — and treats sleep not as an isolated indication, but as a reusable, generalizable control handle on brain state.

The axis that matters

The barrier isn't efficacy.
It's the burden of deployment.

Advanced neurotechnology already works — it simply cannot scale through a surgical bottleneck. The field's escape route is the one cardiology took, when the transvenous lead made open-chest surgery obsolete rather than merely better.

We build for that axis. The question is not “does this interface with the brain,” but “does this interface with the brain in a way that can be deployed at scale, outside a hospital, and repeated safely.” Clear that bar, and early, low-risk intervention opens to the many who are excluded by the last-resort paradigm.

The dominant risk in surgery-free neurotech is not whether a single read or write can be done non-invasively — it is whether a system can sense, decide, and act reliably and safely without supervision.

Sleep lets us confront that loop directly, on a validated brain-state signal that can already be acquired non-invasively today — de-risking the control problem before it transfers onto more novel access routes. It is universal, nightly, measurable at home, and mechanistically linked to a broad range of neurological and neuropsychiatric outcomes.

Co-founded and ran one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most respected independent sleep diagnostics labs — then turned to the harder problem: not measuring sleep, but controlling it.

The operational and financial backbone of the company. At the founders' sleep lab she ran everything the clinical side depended on — scheduling, insurance authorizations, and daily operations — and is a co-inventor across the Artemis portfolio.

Origin

Two writers, a sleep lab, and a question about the night.

Artemis began far from a laboratory. Its two founders met as writers, and spent two years on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica finishing a spec screenplay — learning, in the process, how to build something demanding together from nothing.

They carried that habit into sleep medicine. Together they founded and ran one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most respected independent sleep diagnostics labs — Tetyana on the clinical and scientific side, Carol Anne on the operations and finance that made it viable. Years of reading real patients' nights taught them how sleep actually works at scale, and where sleep medicine quietly falls short.

The lesson wasn't about diagnosis — diagnosis was solved. The frontier was control. The science already recognized which stages of sleep repair the body and restore the mind; what was missing was any system built to measure, predict, and guide them deliberately. The question that changed everything was simple: what if sleep architecture itself could be engineered — not sedated, not approximated, but measured, predicted, and shaped?

Within weeks, the core invention was defined. In late 2025 they filed the founding patent and incorporated Artemis around it — purpose-built to give people, for the first time, deliberate agency over the architecture of their sleep.

Public materials are kept intentionally high-level. Specific methods, parameters, and implementation details are held as protected intellectual property and confidential know-how. Artemis maintains a growing patent portfolio spanning the sensing, delivery, and control layers of the system.
